Job Description

A company that is well known for managing the entire value chain – from seedling trees to the delivery of products to the market, is enlarging their team with a Learning and development Officer.

Purpose of the Role
To align employee goals and performance with that of the organization’s and to identify skill gaps among employees and teams then possibly develop and deliver training to bridge those gaps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of training and development
  • Driving the skills development element of BBBEE and understanding of BBBEE
  • Supporting line managers
  • Supporting wages and monthly staff
  • Bursary Admin
  • Career Readiness(Community Initiative)
  • Ability to design learning material would be a great skill

Minimum experience & qualifications required

  • Must possess a matric certificate or equivalent
  • Must possess a National Diploma in Human Resource Management  or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid OETDP certificate
  • Knowledge of the Sawmill Industry will be advantageous
  • Must have 3 year’s experience as a qualified training officer in a similar environment
  • Must be computer literate in Microsoft Packages
  • Must have previous exposure of an ERP system
  • Must be knowledgeable of SAQA, QTCO, SDA and the SETA structures
  • Must be knowledgeable of the BBBEE codes and the EEA
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Must have the ability to work  and communicate with various stakeholders
  • Must have a high level of commitment to accuracy, quality, attention to detail and be methodical
  • Must be able to work without supervision
  • Must be result orientated and keep the training records up to date
  • Must possess ability to initiate, have energy and be driven
  • Must be an individual that is service orientated and be able to handle pressure
  • Must be a person of integrity

  • Must be able to transfer knowledge
  • Must be a team player
  • Good problem-solving skills
